Mangalore, is a picturesque coastal town on the West Coast of India. The modern and the traditional elements of multiple cultures finds expression in a harmonious blend in this fast developing town. Among the many talented groups that have achieved international fame, the Team Mangalore Kite group stands out with its incredible achievements.

Team Mangalore, made its modest beginning as a small hobby group of kite makers and flyers in 1998. Over the years, Team Mangalore has carved a niche for itself at all International Kite Festivals. It is now a regular participant in kite festivals in various parts of India and abroad. It has been successful in using  the medium of kites to introduce our rich cultural heritage to the world.

The kites crafted by Team Mangalore are inspired by the traditional folklore, dance forms and theatrics of the South West Coast of Karnataka and Kerala. The range includes Yakshagana, Kathakali, Bootha Kola, BharathaNatya, Durga and Gajendra in this series. Each kite is a hand crafted applique work made of rip-stop nylon and bamboo. They have been conceived, engineered, designed and crafted by B. Sarvesh Rao, Prashanth Upadhyaya and Dinesh Holla and other members of Team Mangalore.

"Spreading happiness through kites" has been the motto of Team Mangalore. It has been instrumental in encouraging children to learn the art of kite making through kite workshops for children in various schools/camps. Nearly 2000 students have gained the benefit of learning this art through more than 30 workshops conducted by the Team.

Team Mangalore organizes Kite Festivals on the shores of Panambur Beach near Mangalore, every January, from the year 1998 for the benefit of enthusiastic public of the town. It has been organizing International Kite Festivals in Mangalore since 2005

You are after all sending to the clouds that part of your soul
which has its colors intact and has not forgotten to soar......"
